Critique on "Thank you for not smoking"
I am critiquing SmartinsCOMM140230. I agree with SmartinsCOMM140230. In our society today it is all about the sex appeal and that is a major interest with people today. He is very beyond convincing especially because people are easily influenced.
Thank you for not smoking
This is being posted to Professor's blog as well as mine. This scene is very catchy. Nick sounds very convincing being that he is enthused about speaking in front of the committee. Not only does he voice his opinions, Nick gives very good reasons. His delivery to the audience is based on what smoking as done over the years in terms of empowerment through movies, films, and even the romance over decades of time. Well although I am not a smoker myself, Nick makes good points as to why smoking is "cool".

Critique on Job's Speech
I agree with Alexis. Although he delivered a positive speech, Steve was very stiff and only moved to scratch his beard. I noticed it alot when I watched it, but I find it even funnier when someone else notices it too. More movement would have been better.

Steve Jobs Motivational Speech Answers
1. Steve used three vocal fillers only in the very beginning. It showed that he must have been a bit nervous, but overall it wasn't that big of a deal.
2.Mr. Job did use appropriate nonverbal communication. Although he was reading from paper, he still maintained some type of eye contact toward the audience. He didn't use any hand gestures, but kept good posture, not sloutching around and all.
3. I found this speech very motivational. Everyone has their own technique in getting someone else's attention, and his technique was personal experience. This is the same man that was adopted, dropped out of college, and was diagnost with cancer, who knew he have been able to accomplish so much. I liked the ending quote, "Stay hungry, stay foolish," because it is a way of saying no matter what obstacles you may overcome, keep pushing and you will get to your dreams.
4. I rate this speech a 9 because I enjoy listening to people talk about how it's possible to start something out of nothing.

Critique
I have to definately disagree with FPriceComm140230. This person mentioned something pertaining to Obama's tone and how he should have put some type of excitement or serious tone. His tone was absolutely perfect. If he were to be too serious or too excited, people wouldn't really focus much on the speech. It was a good thing that he seemed calm to show a sense of understanding. Also, FPrice said that Obama should have gave examples on how our economy will change. I disagree because I believe Obama will do his best to change but can't make any promises.

Obama Speech
1. The message being sent during this speech was that we as Americans have suffered enough. 60 years ago today we were not able to sit next to one another. Now, with positive knowledge we can look at the people who said we couldn't, "YES WE CAN!"
2.President Obama's speech was delivered in pure excellence. His eye contact, connecting with his viewers, no card usage, and his calm but serious tone assured that he knew exactly what he was talking about. The volume was also good especially since there was a microphone present.
3.On a scale of 1-10, I would rate this a 9. Obama seemed to have memorized alot which showed that he practiced it thoroughly which was a plus on my side. Although he may have stumbled a bit on one or two words, it was overall perfect.
4. There were no noticeceable interferences during his speech, but the constant applause allowed him to stop and pause.
5.Although this speech was quite lengthy, I would not want to improve anything about it.
